The last book you read: was it amazing, show-stopping, and life-changing? Or was it more of a “meh” book? Or was it boring, pretentious, and lacking in substance? Did it make you laugh, cry, or was it (frankly) emotionless? Regardless, being able to coherently summarize, critique, and compliment a book is an incredibly useful skill. While many are, book reviews don’t have to, and honestly shouldn’t be boring. As you practice, work on entertainment value in addition to grammar and content; at the end of the day, your review will only be captivating and unique if you are able to connect with the reader.
